What should I expect to do each week in Learn2Thrive?

Each week, we focus our discussion and skill development on 1 thriving skill and 1 learning skill.  Those skills change week to week.  In addition, we do reflection activities, mindful movement, and meditation.

How is the program delivered?

Learn2Thrive will be offered through a hybrid model of delivery for the winter 2024 term. Content delivery of the weekly thriving and learning skills will be offered in an asynchronous format on OWL.  Each week we will also offer two live drop-ins (1 in-person and 1 on Zoom) where the emphasis will be on answering questions about Learn2Thrive content, engaging in discussion and activities related to the topics of the week, and developing community.

What topics will be covered in the program?

Over the 10 week program, we will explore the following topics to help you build new habits, leading from your strengths, and how to focus on healthy living.

Building traits like:

  • finding flow
  • self-compassion
  • balance

When is the program offered?

Learn2Thrive will start the week of January 22, 2024, and will run for 10 consecutive weeks with the exception of a 1-week break for winter Reading Week

Who is eligible to participate in the program?

Any undergraduate or course-based graduate student who has completed at least one term of post-secondary studies is eligible to participate. Registrants must be able to participate in all 10 weeks of the program.

What is the level of commitment to participate in the program?

You should aim to commit 2 hours per week for 10 weeks -  1-hour watching content videos done at a time of your choice, and 1 hour participating in the live drop-in. On occassion, we may ask you to complete some activities between sessions, but these will require minimal time commitment (i.e. 30 minutes or less).

What if I can’t attend all 10 sessions?

As much of the content will be delivered asynchronously through OWL, there is a lot of flexibility about when you choose to “attend” Learn2Thrive. We will be releasing new content at the beginning of each of the 10 weeks with the hope that you will set aside some time that same week to watch and engage with the videos. The live group drop-in is the only Learn2Thrive commitment that will have a scheduled time each week. These optional live sessions will take place every Wednesday from 2:30-3:30pm (in person) and Thursday from 10:30-11:30am (on Zoom). Attendance at 5 out of 10 of the live drop-ins will signify full participation in Learn2Thrive and will allow it to be added to your Co-Curricular Record.
